Mailroom

Mailing accessories: envelope sealer and paper jogger

Two small machines that remove two of the most tedious jobs in a mailroom. The Formax FD 430 takes a stack of envelopes, flaps open or closed, and returns them sealed. The FP Paper Jogger 400 squares a stack and shakes the static out of it before it goes into a folder, copier or cutter, which is where most jams start.

Formax FD 430 Envelope Sealer

Close and seal envelopes in one pass.

The FD 430 closes and seals envelopes in a single pass. Place a stack of envelopes in the infeed tray, choose a speed with the control knob, and in seconds they are sealed and ready for the mail. It seals envelopes up to 9.75 inches wide and 15 inches long, up to 16 mm thick, at up to 18,000 an hour.

Standard features include an adjustable envelope separator for accurate feeding, a large outfeed tray, heavy-duty metal construction and a precision moistening roller. The flap closing bar lets you load envelopes as a standard stack or nested with the flaps open, which is faster still.

Paper Jogger 400

Perfectly aligned, static-free paper stacks in seconds.

The Paper Jogger 400 aligns a stack of paper and removes the static electricity and paper sticking that cause jams in folder inserters, copiers, folding machines, printing presses, paper cutters, perforators and binding machines. It also cools paper and dries toner or ink before a stack moves from the printer into a paper-processing machine.

It is a compact tabletop unit that works out of the box with no special setup, and takes very little desk space. It jogs one ream of 8.5 × 11 or half a ream of 8.5 × 14 at a time.

Questions we get asked

Does the FD 430 open the flaps itself?

It closes and seals them. Load envelopes as a normal stack, or nested with the flaps already open for faster feeding; the flap closing bar folds each flap down and the moistening roller seals it.

Do I need a jogger?

If a folder, copier or cutter jams on stacks that came straight from a printer, yes. Jogging squares the stack, dissipates static and lets the sheets cool, which is the difference between a clean feed and a misfeed.
